The Name Game
Naming a newborn can feel like you’re picking a personality for your baby, so it’s a task we try to take seriously. Inspiration can come from anywhere, whether it’s a way to honor your culture, ensure luck, or immortalize family members. Baby books and websites also tell us what’s trendy, and we automatically assume trendy is “good,” so what’s the harm?
Superfans of various series have skipped the baby books and named their kids after their favorite characters, which could make for amusing crossovers if their kids grow up to marry someone else with a fandom-inspired name. Otherwise, they might just be sticking them with the bill for a legal name change later on.
