Cancun’s Underwater Museum
Make a point of visiting the Punta Nizuc Underwater Museum whenever you go down to Cancun. It’s a treat for both the eyes and the intellect. The museum tour is both educational and entertaining, and the museum emphasizes safeguarding the reefs and the water. If you’re just going to kick coral up, don’t even bother going.

Cancun is well-known for its beaches and party-hard environment, but this aspect of the city’s culture should not be disregarded. The museum houses over 500 statues that you won’t believe could exist until you actually visit. It first opened its doors in 2009 with the goal of bringing marine life to artificial reefs with places of rest like the one pictured above.
