Training for the Worst Job Ever
If you thought working inside a submarine would be all fun and games, you’re sorely mistaken. Living underwater for months at a time isn’t even the worst thing about working in a submarine. You have to pass a string of vigorous tests to determine whether or not you’re fit for the submarine life, and that’s even before you board one!
The picture above shows the Gosport, a training facility for future submariners. It was built over 70 years ago and is equipped with a 100-plus-foot-deep pool to give candidates a mere taste of what being surrounded by water feels like. The Gosport was ultimately shut down as an official training facility, but people still go there to learn underwater survival tactics.
