I’m Drowning!
The Awakening, a one-of-a-kind sculpture by J. Seward Johnson, is located at National Harbor. The much-discussed art piece is a must-see for anybody paying a visit to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. The statue, which stands 72 feet tall, depicts a massive man-like creature struggling to emerge from the depths of the ocean.
The aluminum sculpture was erected in the harbor in 2008. It’s up to the observer to figure out what the artist was going for, but it’s definitely worth seeing if you’re in the area. It’s worth noting that the region is also home to a number of other outdoor art projects that visitors are free to touch and explore.
