We always seem to be looking for advice on life, relationships, and work. But, do we actually follow the advice we receive? Let’s be honest with ourselves… we usually don’t. We take for granted all of the wise words we grow up hearing from our parents, our grandparents, and other trusted people in our lives – and instead, we trust our instincts. Which doesn’t always work out for the best. There usually comes a moment in our lives, though, where we realize how true and helpful these words of wisdom actually are. We asked internet users to share pieces of advice they received and took for granted at first – only to realize just how useful these recommendations turned out to be later on in life.
What Comes Around Goes Around
Just like rumors and gossip, compliments make their way through the grapevine. If you spend your time complimenting people instead of saying mean things, the people you talk about will eventually hear about it. If you build a reputation for being a serial complimenter, you’ll definitely be considered more trustworthy among your friends.
Even if your compliments never get back to the person, it’s still a good way to spread positive energy. Everyone wants to feel supported by their friends and acquaintances, and complimenting someone is a simple way to do that. We’d rather be known for being a good friend rather than a back-stabbing gossip!
