Too Bad It Didn’t Stay A Secret
The 1993 version of The Secret Garden earned itself a gold medal in the Pain Olympics for obliterating ours feels with the dark story of the orphaned Mary Lenox, who winds up in a creepy castle echoing with the cries of her feeble, isolated cousin. While the story ends on an uplifting note, the majority of it cut our emotional jugular with strong themes of abandonment.
If I could sue this movie for emotional damages, I’d hire the best lawyer in all the land to do so because the scene depicted traumatized me as a child as it replayed through my head infinite times. Perhaps we should consider a class-action lawsuit because I’m positive this movie is responsible for our abandonment issues as adults.
