Still Fighting For Trophies
Class awards at high school reunions are an old tradition that keeps the friendly competition alive and commemorates how much we’ve changed or managed to stay the same. Your run-of-the-mill awards include things like “Biggest Physical Transformation,” “Most Kids,” or “Coolest Job.” Some schools even hand out awards to the person who traveled the farthest for the reunion.
Awards make us feel special by boosting our ego, even if we know they’re as meaningless as our high school years were. However, that doesn’t stop us from feeling the burn of jealousy when we see our award go to someone who didn’t deserve it. Oh well. There’s always another chance in ten years.
