Brushing up on the Facts
Make Art Not Waste is an environmentalist blog aimed at waking us up to the harsh reality of plastic pollution. The authors often share upcycled art, such as their “weird, scary army of toothbrushes advancing out of the sea.” Tossing out your toothbrush doesn’t seem horrifying until you consider everyone else is doing the same thing.

Americans alone are responsible for one billion plastic toothbrushes meeting their wasteful fate, adding up to 50 million pounds of garbage. Sticking a bunch of dirty, old toothbrushes in the sand might not change the world, but it makes for a neat picture and gets us to think about the impact we have on the planet.
