There are so many different factors that influence one’s music taste. From where you live to the type of people you hang out with, there are a lot of different influences. Even though it is difficult to generalize a whole state’s music taste, this map has attempted to answer that very question.

Some of these results are shocking, while others are completely unsurprising. We don’t think anyone would be surprised by the state of California’s obsession with pop music, just like people might not be shocked by New York’s love for Rock/Oldies. It is, however, slightly shocking that more of the South isn’t crazy for country music.
