#5: The Motormat Drive-In, 1948
Even though the world looks very different from 60 or so years ago, some things we wish never got taken away. The world underwent many changes in a relatively short period, so it makes sense that up-and-coming ideas were constantly being tried out, but we’re not so sure that the “out with the old and in with the new” mindset is always the right method.

We know it looks weird, but we can imagine this drive-in doing well in modern society. Kenneth C. Purdy invented this type of drive-thru in Los Angeles, where food trays were sent to individual cars on rails. People were so desperate to eliminate outdated things that society bulldozed incredible ideas like this.
