Florida – A Fort During The Civil War
Throughout the Civil War, Florida joined the Confederacy but it did not take long to conquer. San Cooley, a man in the Union sometime in 1862, took this picture from the Library of Congress archives.
This photo depicts St. Augustine’s Fort, which was seized by the Federal Navy and conducted seaborne expeditions during the Civil War. Though not given, the Federal Navy appears to be standing side by side at the top of the wall.
