Kentucky – Henry Clay’s Portrait
In the decades paving the way to the devastating Civil War, Henry Clay was one of the most conspicuous politicians of the time. Even though he worked with the law previously, he, in the end, felt drawn to the political world, getting known for expediting a few trade-offs on issues, such as states’ rights and slavery.

During the war between the US and Britain in 1812, he was one of the leading figures to get chosen. Tragically, this picture of him was taken just before he died and barely shows his face.
