Oklahoma – A Cherokee Chief
Joss Ross, also known by this traditional name, Guwisguwi, was a known Cherokee chief who handled a high position on account of his blood relation to the powerful tribe. During his time as a chief, he drove his tribe to some of the most alarming & scariest occasions all through the Civil War.

Unfortunately, he was likewise their chief during a period of a few tribe relocations. He had big dreams, wanting to make a business and empire by establishing Ross’ Landing and Chattanooga, Tennessee’s original settlement. This photo of him in Western attire was taken in 1850.
