Rhode Island – James F. Simmons, The Corrupt Senator
James F. Simmons was photographed in 1859; however, it hadn’t been that sometime before he had been involved in political and corruption embarrassments. He was blamed for several things, and among them was the doubt of robbing cash from several manufacturers, much before he even made the proposals to the government.
After some of these burglaries went unnoticed, some of his fellow senators got down on him and began raising doubts about his behavior. Even though he was nearly removed from the Senate, he was eventually permitted to continue there.
