Mississippi – An Avid Fighter For The Union
Henry S. Foote was a Governor and Senator of Mississippi around the 1840s and 1850s. This photo was taken in 1844 by one of the most acclaimed photographers of the time, Matthew Brady. Foote got known for contending hard and making compromises to keep the Union together, something that was rare at that point.
