Wyoming – Bitter Creek
Although it’s really hard to see it, if you look at this image deeply, you can see a group of men working. In 1870, Andrew Russel took this image of the trench cut into Bitter Creek. Bitter Creek spreads across the entire state of Wyoming for about 80 miles.

The Creek was not only a very popular spot for coal miners back in the day, but also acted as a railroad line. At the time, Russel was one of the most prominent photographers and documented the region between 1868 and 1870.
