Garth Brooks Vs. Waylon Jennings
Garth Brooks burst onto the country music scene in the 1990s, but not everyone in the business was happy about it. Country legend Waylon Jennings regarded Garth as a symptom that country music was on a downhill slide. Jennings worried several times while they were recording what he thought of as “overrated” and “plastic.”
During his time at Ohio State, both Jennings and Brooks remained silent about the scandal. Jennings died in 2002 before anyone had a chance to respond. According to Brooks, he never took what Jennings said personally. Furthermore, he stated that he had nothing but the greatest respect for Jennings.
