Garry Shandling
If you love Curb Your Enthusiasm or The Office, then you have Garry Shandling to thank. He starred in the groundbreaking show The Larry Sanders Show on HBO, which also gave the cable network its first touch of prestige. Unfortunately, on March 24, 2016, Shandling collapsed at his home and passed away from a pulmonary embolism at only 66 years old. Just four days before his death, comedienne Kathy Griffin tweeted this photo of her with Shandling and Bob Odenkirk.
Just before he passed, Shandling reflected on the death of his friend Robin Williams. He said that at his own funeral, he wanted a boxing referee to declare that “he’s not getting up.”
