The Floating Woman: Anatomy of Illusion
Like all other tricks, the secret of this trick lies in the hands of the magician. Magician intentionally stands beside the metal road which is connected to the table. By applying pressure to the metal rod he ensures that the woman remains at her spot. So it doesn’t even matter whether the chair is there or not, a woman will float eventually. Because chairs weren’t part of her support in the first place. Then the main thing here is to divert the audience’s attention from the rod likely to be done by the ring to tempt them more.
Interesting Magic Fact: In 2006 David Copperfield and his two assistants were robbed at gunpoint. But being a magician, Copperfield camouflaged all his things. Later he said that the illusion he pulled of was a “reverse pickpocketing”
