#7: Michael Jordan’s Big Gamble
It’s always a little suspicious when CEOs and famous business owners suddenly “retire” or “step down.” They always seem to want to “spend more time with their families.” Most of the time, we don’t believe these sudden retirements are voluntary. The same might be said for Michael Jordan’s first retirement in 1993.
Basketball fans remember when the famous player abruptly retired. It happened out of the blue, and he returned a couple of years later. The retirement was so abrupt that fans still speculate that he was actually suspended for his gambling addiction. The NBA didn’t want a huge scandal surrounding their most valuable player, so they said he was “retiring.” The NBA denies this theory, but the rumors still persist.
