De Rossi tells the story of how, after their first meeting in 2000, she couldn’t get Ellen out of her mind. She ran into Ellen while doing a photoshoot in 2004 as a result of fate or good fortune. All of her emotions came rushing back, and Ellen took her breath away again.

After the shoot, they reconnected at VH1’s Big in the ’04 Awards Show that evening. They began chatting, and, as the saying goes, the rest was history. Portia claims she finally felt those emotions she read about in novels on that day with Ellen.
