Busy Mom Shortcuts to Eat Healthier

February 11, 2021 by Molly Reynolds

Being busy is simply part of motherhood. Moms everywhere know how difficult it is to eat healthier, focus on self-care, and do anything other than keeping the household running smoothly. While it may be difficult to find time to eat healthier, we’re on a mission to help busy moms everywhere learn some shortcuts and hacks to eat healthier!

Eating healthier is more about developing new habits rather than removing any particular habit you have right now. Let’s say you’re used to eating a snack while waiting for the kids to get out of school, all you need to do is swap the unhealthy snack for a healthier treat option. We’ll show you how easy it is to transform your busy mom life so that you feel happier and healthier in no time.

Batch Cook

One of the easiest ways for busy moms to eat healthier is to start batch cooking. This involves planning out a week’s worth of meals and batch cooking them on a “free day”. Choose a day that you have the least amount of tasks to accomplish and cook your week’s meals to freeze or store for later cooking.

Consider making your meals as simple as possible and in bulk so that you’re able to make multiple meals from one batch cooking event. This could be making kid-friendly healthy casseroles and freezer meals from scratch so that you just pop these meals in the oven and bake during your busy week.

Stock Up

The best way to make eating healthier easy for busy moms is to keep your freezer, fridge, and pantry stocked with options. Make sure you have fresh fruits and vegetables on hand for a quick grab-n-go snack. You can make baggies of homemade trail mix full of nuts, seeds, and dried fruit to grab when you’re feeling a little hungry.

Homemade trail mix is a fabulous option to keep in your vehicle so that you always have a quick, healthy snack option to eat during your busy day of running errands. Make sure you stock up on these healthy options and create mini grab-n-go Ziploc baggies so that everyone can grab a quick healthy snack.

Make Smoothies

Another option to help busy moms eat healthier is to start enjoying smoothies. You’ll need a blender and ingredients for your favorite smoothies on hand. This will allow you to drink your nutrients. Getting some much-needed nutrients into your body during your busy mom schedule is all about finding creative ways to eat while you’re running around.

There are many healthy smoothie recipes out there to select from. Make a list of your favorite options and always have those ingredients on hand, ready to whip up a quick smoothie before you head out the door to work, dropping kids off to school, or running errands.

These are just a few of the best busy mom shortcuts to eat healthier without stressing. You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money when you opt to invest in your health using our mom shortcuts for healthier eating habits.
