World War II, which occurred between 1939 and 1945, eclipsed all other historical conflicts regarding its scale and atrocity. It claimed millions of lives, leaving a permanent mark on American and global history. While many of us have seen the famous historical images that arose from such a large-scale world event, many photos are still yet to be uncovered. This collection of photos, at times chilling, tells parts of WWII that can only be told through photographs.

#1: The Connection Between Henry Ford and Adolf Hitler

At the dawn of World War II, the lines between the ideologies of Nazi Germany and the Allied Nations were blurry. A striking example is the mutual respect between Adolf Hitler and Henry Ford, who revolutionized industry with his assembly line.

Their bond was profound, with each keeping the other’s picture on their desk. Ford’s antisemitic publications further connected them. In 1931, Hitler referred to Ford as his inspiration, and in 1938, he honored him with the Grand Cross of the German Eagle.
