Robert Downey, Jr. was the best choice to play Iron Man, with Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, and Gwyneth Paltrow all making excellent portrayals of their roles. Rhodey, Natascha, and Pepper were all well cast, but Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark as Iron Man is the winner.

Why? The pose and fancy evening jacket, with no shirt underneath it, are clear indicators of how he copies the self-involved Tony Stark in the photo. He looks just like Stark, which is why the casting directors decided to select him for the part.
