Blood Type
Blood type inheritance is yet another complex genetic process influenced by both maternal and paternal genes, but it is more common for individuals to share the same blood type as their mothers. The determination of an individual’s blood type involves inheriting two alleles during formation, one from each parent.
While the combination of these alleles ultimately defines a person’s blood type, research has shown that in the majority of cases, children have the same blood type as their mothers. This suggests that the maternal genetic contribution may have a stronger influence on blood type inheritance. However, blood type inheritance is a result of genetic combinations from both parents, and exceptions do exist where individuals share the same blood type as their fathers.
