You Can’t Handle the Truth
Some parents don’t believe in lying to their kids – not even about magical things like Santa Claus – which is why they tell them the truth from the get-go, that Santa is a fictional character. Is lying to your kids to protect them or making them believe in a magical world wrong? Is it okay to lie to your kids when the lies make them happy? I don’t have kids, so I’m undecided on the matter.
This person hated being lied to by his parents when he was a kid. He had his doubts about Santa being real, and while he kept asking his parents about it, they kept insisting that he was real. When they finally broke down and told him the truth, even though I’m sure they did so in a fun and loving way, he swore never to lie to his kids about that.
