The limping walk in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
In Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, nobody had laid eyes on the infamous Willy Wonka in years. So, to make a grand entrance, he… limped on the scene. That’s not a very gung-ho way of introducing yourself to the audience, is it? But not long after, he falls into a somersault, revealing quite a lot about what a mysterious character he is.
That limping wasn’t originally a part of the scene, but Gene wanted to add a bit of mystery to Willy Wonka. From the get-go, he didn’t want the audience to correctly guess whether he was being truthful or telling an extravagant lie.
