#21: Protests Against the Prohibition, 1931
When it comes to standing up for what you believe in, there are specific ways you can get your message across. Protest is one effective way to state your message clearly and bring about positive, non-violent change. Many times in history, people have chosen to protest when they felt their civil rights were being taken away.
In 1931, the American people had grown tired of feeling like they couldn’t practice freedom how they chose. Prohibition lasted from 1920 until 1933, banning alcohol throughout all American states. This image shows men, towards the end of the prohibition, exercising their right to protest in favor of bringing back alcoholic beverages.
