Odd Traditions
The Moose Dropping Festival was held annually in Alaska from 1954 until 2008, the last year it was held. This summertime gathering was held on Mount McKinley each year as its traditional location. People in the village of Talkeetna, in the state of Alaska, had a long-standing custom of collecting moose waste that had become accessible as a result of melting snow.
They would make jewelry and other items out of other things using the feces of moose. You should be aware that the “moose droppings” depicted in the image are not actually made from the waste of moose. These “droppings” are actually made from the waste of a different animal. It has never been possible for anyone to explain why attending this festival was ever considered to be such a significant event by such a large number of people.
