When DNA Test Results Expose Shocking Family Secrets

Matt Heninger was an adopted child and took a test from AncestryDNA to look more about his ethnic roots. When he recieved the results, nothing seemed surprising or unusual. However, Joyce Burgener, who reached out to Heninger a few months later, had much different DNA results.

Burgener’s results connected her to Heninger as a close relative, but the DNA test didn’t suggest how close. They initially assumed that they were first cousins but eventually discovered theat they were actually siblings. Burgener came from a poor family and could recall her mother giving Heninger up for adoption.
