Blank stares
This guy makes a pretty good point. It is creepy to think that a classmate or coworker is staring intently at you throughout a meeting without you noticing. However, to be fair, the same thing could happen during class when you’re presenting a project. It’s just that with Zoom, if you scroll through the list of attendees, you might find someone who’s staring blankly at their screen/your face.
However, due to the nature of video calls, there’s no telling what they’re actually looking at. We’ll admit that we’ve watched YouTube videos and Netflix shows while sitting in on a Zoom meeting. Our deep stares probably convinced the speaker that we were paying close attention to them. How wrong they were…
