Another historical moment in US history was the famous Boston tea party which got its name after throwing tea from the British Empire into the harbor water. They rejected the British tax on tea and showed them how they felt about the Empire in general by disobeying them. This would only escalate their sour relationship. 

After this incident, the American revolution began and led the way for their independence. That’s right, it all started when angry American’s dumped tea off some ships and into the water. Maybe that’s where the expression ‘spill the tea comes from, but we are not really sure, it could just be for gossip.
