“Kipp” Thorne
Interstellar is arguably one of the best sci-fi movies of all time. We had our doubts that Matthew McConaughey could pull off such a serious role, but he certainly put us in our place. But the best parts of the movie—and we think you’ll agree with us—are the robots TARS and CASE.
We’re introduced to a third robot named KIPP when the crew land on Dr. Mann’s planet. The dismantled robot’s name is actually a reference to Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist who served as a consultant and executive producer of the movie. It was due to his incredible insight that the animation team could come up with such an accurate visualization of a black hole.
