A Man’s Job
The gender gap in household chores is a clear example of how gender inequality still exists in our society. Having only 19 percent of American men doing housework on an average day, compared to 49 percent of American women, is like a continuation of the outdated notion that housework is “women’s work.”
Let’s not forget that housework is a shared responsibility that benefits everyone in the household. Americans should promote a culture where housework is not just “women’s work” but a shared responsibility between partners. Let’s encourage men to take an equal role in household chores and recognize the value of unpaid labor.
