44th Place – South Carolina
Coming in at 44th place in a list of 50 is certainly an improvement for South Carolina. The state was previously ranked the worst for education by US News and World Report in 2019 and 49th by WalletHub for teachers.
South Carolina ranks near the bottom of the list when it comes to educational achievement. It has a below-average preschool enrollment rate, subpar math and reading test scores, low college readiness and two-year college graduation rates. Unfortunately, South Carolina’s educational performance is not up to par with the rest of the nation.
