The Producers Tricks to Keep Audiences Hooked
As some longtime fans of “The Price is Right” might have noticed, the show changed somewhat when Bob Barker retired after more than 30 years, and Drew Carey took over at the host. Suddenly it got easier to win; this was apparently a choice made by the show’s producers.
The showrunners were scared that faithful audiences would bolt when fan-favorite Barker was replaced by Carey. So, they made it more simple for contestants to win and during the first season with Drew Carey there were tons of winners. Looks like it worked, because ratings stayed up.
