We’ve always known not to pour ourselves a cup of laundry detergent and start sipping away, but somehow the rules around ingesting cleaning supplies changed when Tide made their colorful candy-like pods that teenagers couldn’t help but pop in their mouths in exchange for internet clout. The pods were released in 2012, but the power of memes led to people giving them a taste test around 2018.
This was not our brightest blip in time as humans. Those who aren’t shaking their heads now will undoubtedly be doing it later when they remember they risked their lives for the forbidden fruit.
