Did you know that every year 34 foreign films are allowed to enter the Chinese market? That means that whatever the audiences over there get, they need to make sure that the messages and events in the films are up to their censorship code or else there could be a big problem.
Even their own director, Ang Lee who was originally born in Taiwan, could not get into the market with his 2005 film ‘Brokeback Mountain’. The government did not approve of the events in the film and it was never shown to the public there. Talk about not being able to catch a break.
