Speaking about perspective, this bird’s-eye view of Barcelona by day and night is really something! You may not realize as you’re walking through the streets but Barcelona is actually built in squares. The grid-like pattern when seen from above makes it almost seem like there are tiny square donuts strewn all over the city.
Believe it or not, this was not always the case here. Due to overcrowding and deteriorating living conditions, Catalan architect Ildefons Cerdà came up with this upgrade plan that includes plenty of green spaces as well. There’s something about the uniformity that’s very pleasing to the eye, don’t you agree?
