Peculiar Pockets
Fake pockets have infiltrated the world of denim. They’re stitched shut, and every time we look at them, they mock us and remind us we can’t hide anything inside. Regular jeans with open pockets do the same with those tiny pockets that can’t fit more than a finger or two in them, so what are they for?

It turns out that the little corner pockets we find in today’s denim are a throwback to more than a century ago when Levi’s introduced the watch pocket. They were meant for men working in dirty and dangerous conditions to keep their pocketwatches clean and safe. Nowadays, we just hook our fingers in them to strike a cute pose for Instagram.
