A Massive Word Jumble
You would need a magnifying glass to properly view this map and you might have gone crosseyed at first glance. This just looks like a giant word jumble when you see it all at once. It is clear, by this map of common surnames in the United States, that we live in one large, highly-populated, and diverse country.

Of course, the most common names like Jones, Smith, Lee, Johnson, Anderson, and Williams pop out to us. And in comparison to the map of popular surnames in Europe, we happen to share a lot of the same names in our home country. This map not only shares the most popular surnames but shows the vast difference in population between the two coasts and the Midwest.
