Stop Soul Searching
Have you ever noticed that we’re kind of obsessed, as a culture, with the concept of finding ourselves? Self-help gurus spout this nonsense all the time. People write best-selling books about how they quit their job and then went to India or hiked the Appalachian Trail and “found themselves.”
But this person is asking the serious questions: what if you finally find yourself, and you realize that yourself is actually pretty average? What if you’re not some hidden diamond in the rough, but just a regular person? And if you think about it, that’s the situation that most of us would find ourselves in. So maybe it’s time to stop searching for yourself. You might not be that impressed with the results.
