Overheard at Thanksgiving Dinner: People Share Amusing and Insightful Thanksgiving Tweets

November 7, 2010 by Alison Campbell

The holiday season is a mix of emotions for many of us. Thanksgiving, in particular, can be a stressful time full of travel, awkward family conversations, and being back at your parents’ house surrounded by family. It can also be an awesome time full of delicious food and over-indulging! These tweets perfectly embody the complicated feelings a lot of us have when it comes to Thanksgiving. Some tweets will make you laugh, while others will hit way too close to home. Before you head to your family’s house for an emotion-filled Thanksgiving weekend, read through these tweets to fortify your strength and spirits. Happy Thanksgiving!

Prying Questions

Ah, Thanksgiving. The perfect occasion to catch up with family you haven’t seen the whole year, and then remember why you avoid seeing them! We probably all experience prying or inappropriate questions about our personal life during holiday dinners. It’s always awkward answering, so maybe this tweet from Regina can help you out next time your great-aunt asks if you’re still single.

Regina added to the #OverheardAtThanksgivingDinner hashtag thread with a classic response. This response really takes care of all the possible follow-up questions someone could ask you. It also brilliantly changes the subject and will give you a much-needed beverage.
