Snow days
In the northern areas of America, it’s common for a school to be canceled when the weather is too extreme. Deep snow, for example, or flooding. Fair enough, you might think, and pretty normal, but there are countries around the world with much worse weather than we get.

In Sweden, for example, if their schools shut every time there was deep snow then they’d miss half of the year. They think we’re a bit pathetic for shying off school at a few flakes. If you don’t believe me, check out images of Scandinavian winter snowfall, it’s not for the faint-hearted.
