#41: Somewhat of a Truman Moment
In the movie The Truman Show, there are several times when one of the main characters turns to the camera and does a product placement spot for the show’s advertisers. Now, that’s not something that could be pulled off on Seinfeld, or any other sitcom for that matter, but that didn’t stop them from cleverly handling product placement.
Any Seinfeld fan can tell you that Superman is always in the background. But what you may not immediately notice is the Minute Mad orange juice, the Juicy Fruits, or the Junior Mints, among other products. You don’t think they provided all that air time to those companies for free, do you? Successful, subtle product placement is a major tool for television and movies alike.
