Every now and then, when the US makes a decision worth seventeen facepalm emojis, my friends and I all get together (virtually) and daydream about where we should move. We’ve discussed Jamaica, Costa Rica, Japan, and many more. Everyone has to agree on a place, of course, and that never happened until South Korea came up. The photos below, shared on the South Korea subreddit, prove it’s the perfect place to be for even the pickiest person. From incredible vistas that will stop you in your tracks to the little things in life that put a smile on your face, this country has it all. Everyday life in the country is so colorful and unique, and it seems like there’s a lot we can learn from them!
1. Public Transportation Libraries
A subway library. Now I’ve seen it all. The Book Train is public transportation with a literary twist. It offers over 500 different titles in paperback and hardcover, with an additional set of electronic devices that are full of literature from around the world. The train itself is painted so that the doors look like books!
It’s on the tracks of the Gyeongui Line, which travels 124 kilometers each way across Seoul and the Gyeonggi-do Province. Even better? The train hosts informative events each month, like book concerts and author talks. You can catch it in the early morning, at lunchtime, and again in the evening!
