The deepest shipwreck in the world discovered
The wreck of the USS Samuel B Roberts, a 306-foot destroyer escort originally built for the United States Navy during World War II, has been discovered at what is described as the “deepest” point on earth. The ship met its end in October 1944.
It is no small feat that the destroyer escort was able to fight against the USS Johnston and win, given that it was up against a much larger fleet. However, ultimately the ship went down with all hands lost. Despite this loss, it was celebrated as a victory because of how outnumbered they had been.
