Muhammad Ali, 1965
Muhammad Ali, also known as The Greatest, in arguably the world’s most popular boxer, and this is perhaps his most iconic photo. Sports photographer Neil Leifer had the honor of taking over 50 pictures of the great boxer throughout his professional career, and this is perhaps his most famous photo to this day.
Leifer took this photo in 1965, at the legendary boxing match between Ali and Sonny Liston. The photo was taken less than two minutes into the fight; a minute and 44 seconds into the fight, Ali threw a punch that floored Liston, and this photo was taken when he shouted at his rival to “get up and fight.”
