South-West, Not North-West
James Cameron usually has an eye for detail, and mistakes such as this usually don’t go unnoticed. However, this one somehow did, and people were quick to jump at James for allowing it to make it to the final cut. Take a look at these pictures and see where the historical inaccuracy takes place.
In the movie, the ship is depicted to be moving northwest. You can tell by the location of the sun relative to the Titanic. The actual Titanic was traveling southwest. Unless the captain decided to take the boat starboard for a few brief moments, this scene doesn’t make sense. Even the spitting was kind of unnecessary.
