Tina Turner today
Turner gained mainstream success as part of the energetic duo Ike & Tina Turner Revue as well as a solo artist. In 1966, they released the single “River Deep – Mountain High” which is still considered one of the greatest songs of all time. In 1976, the couple separated on bad terms, and their duo was diminished with their relationship. Turner kept her head up and the following year, she’s resumed her already-successful solo career.
The singer-song writer went on to receive great fame and admiration, write many hits and win awards for her music and performance skills. In 2018, she received a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement for her inspiring career. The same year, she released her second memoir, My Love Story; her first autobiography, I, Tina, was released in 1986 and reveals the full story of her childhood and her abusive marriage to Ike Turner. AT 88, Turner is still writing music and performing, and her third book is expected to be released at the end of 2020.
